An Unexpected Journey offers a variety of Cancer coaching services for the cancer patient, survivor and caregiver. The journey is challenging; that’s just the fact. How you deal with the cancer has everything to do with you and is unique to you. No two cancer journeys are ever the same. Your Survivorship Coach understands this and will work with you based on where you are, what you need and where you want to go. They can be your travel guide through your personal cancer journey.


Cancer Coaching is a powerful partnering between you and your Survivorship coach in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires you to maximize your personal potential during and after your Cancer Journey. Coaching is similar to the practice of counseling, but the major difference is that coaching is an on-going collaborative partnership built on deepening the learning and forwarding your action to a life that really matters to you.
We have four different options to support you:

  • Free Monthly Cancer Coaching Circle (CCC)
  • Group Coaching
  • Individual Coaching
  • Urgent Cancer Coaching – for individuals only

 

FREE Monthly Cancer Coaching Circle (CCC)

 
The Cancer Coaching Circle (CCC) provides a group coaching environment for Cancer patients, survivors and caregivers. The CCC is an interactive environment where individuals can come to discuss and be coached on their issues and concerns; can be with other individuals impacted by Cancer; and can learn from other’s experiences. This open group meets on the second Tuesday of each month via telephone at 5pm (Pacific Time).


This 1.25 hour telephone group allows for each individual to participate or listen in from the comforts of their home or location of their choice. It provides a personal forum that allows for as much or as little participation as the individual feels comfortable with. The beauty of this arrangement is that all individuals will benefit from the coaching expertise of the facilitator who will coach 3-4 individuals (for 5-10 minutes each) on topics of their concern. It is common that one person’s issue is shared by many on the CCC call. The remaining time of each CCC call will be open discussion where individual’s can share their wisdom, insights and discoveries or ask specific questions to the group. This portion is facilitated by the Cancer coach to ensure that there is a flow and usefulness to these calls.
Pre-registration is required for the CCC call.

Group Cancer Journey Coaching

 
Group coaching is similar to the Individual Cancer Coaching Program with the element of discovery and processing within a group environment. This small group (6 participants maximum) approach to Cancer Coaching allows each participant to be coached during the Group coaching session. A theme or topic will be presented for each call and discussed. Individuals can choose to be coached on this topic or one of their own choosing. While each participant will get their ample amount of direct coaching time, we have found that all participants benefit from the coaching that takes place with their Group Coaching partners. As individual Cancer experiences, concerns, issues and feelings are often similar with the group.


This approach to Cancer Coaching is also provides the following benefits:

  • A feeling of community
  • A feeling that you are not alone in how you feel and what you are experiencing
  • The experience of other’s coaching discussions that may have answers and meaning to you
  • A cost-effective alternative to Individual Coaching
  • A natural feeling of support and socialization

The Group Coaching Option includes:

  • 1 – 60 minute one-on-one initial discovery session
  • Your Group Coaching materials
  • 4 – 1.25 hour Group Coaching Sessions per month (total of 12 sessions in 3 months)
  • 1 – “Flying on Your Own” wrap-up Group Coaching Session
  • The StrengthFinders 2.0 book and assessment discussion
  • Unlimited email support between coaching sessions
  • Subscription to the “The View from Here” Newsletter and weekly Cancer Tips

Investment: $200/month for the 3 month program

Individual – One on One Coaching

 
We offer two options for individual – one-on-one coaching: “Cancer Journey Coaching” for 3-6 months or individual pay-as-you-go “Urgent Cancer Coaching.” These coaching options are conducted over the phone. In person sessions are only available if we have a certified Survivorship Coach in your area.


Cancer Journey Coaching (CJC) –
This 3-6 month program is designed to give you the time, support and attention you need to tackle your current situation and begin to put into place some coping mechanisms and structures that will work today and in the future. Because this coaching program is designed to look at your whole being (body, mind and spirit), it requires time for you to explore and gain insight from all of the ups and downs of your Cancer Journey and to reach a point where you feel you can soar on your own. 3 months is the minimum time commitment for this option.


The CJC Option includes:

  • Your CJC Coaching materials
  • 1 – 60 minute initial discovery coaching session
  • 3 – 45 minute coaching sessions per month
  • 1 – 45 minute “Flying on your own” coaching session at the end of the program
  • The StrengthFinder 2.0 book and indepth assessment and discussion
  • Unlimited email support between coaching sessions
  • Subscription to the “The View from Here” Newsletter and weekly Cancer Tips

Benefits of Individual Coaching:

  • Personal one-on-one attention
  • Personalization of the program to fit you and your needs

  • A full 45 minutes of coaching time for yourself
  • Schedule flexibility to work with your calendar

Investment= $1050 for 3 months ($350/month) or
$2000 for 6 months ($333/month – SAVE OVER $100)

You might not be ready to commit to three months of working together or perhaps you want to bring coaching into your life here and there.  Or maybe you just like to pay as you go.  Urgent Cancer Coaching Sessions are just that – they are a time for you to get the coaching you need and want – whenever you want


Investment= $150/session – 45 minutes
