Who We Are

About Us

We are a team of cancer survivors passionate about the well-being of other cancer patients, survivors and caregivers.  We have traveled our own Cancer Journey and understand, first-hand, the challenges and opportunities of living with and beyond Cancer.

We are also trained professionals, certified coaches and licensed therapist and psychologist, who believe that this is a time NOT to walk alone and to have as much support as possible.  We also believe that it takes attention to and focus on all parts of you (physical, mental and spiritual) to truly heal from Cancer.

Because of these strong beliefs, we have created programs, services, tools and concepts that will support your total healing.  We cannot promise that you will be cured from Cancer.  We can promise you that together we will tackle whatever comes up and look deeper for what you want, what you know and find meaning and learning in this journey.  We will walk with you.  We will find the best you that can travel this journey with dignity, grace and awareness.

Shariann TomFounder, 4-time Hodgkin’s Lymphoma Survivor, Certified Coach (CPCC), Program Developer and Lead Facilitator

As a 4-time survivor of lymphoma, I realized that I needed to do something beyond my medical treatment for my cancer.· I found that I needed to focus on my whole being.· What did that mean?· I began exploring complementary options in additional to the treatment my medical team suggested.· I found myself drawn to Life Coaching which allowed me to look at my mental and spiritual state of being.· Using the techniques, tools and community that came with my coaching education and certification towards my Cancer healing, I found that I could be empowered rather than depleted.·

As an active advocate, educator and presenter in the Cancer community, I combine my many Cancer experiences and expertise in coaching to help those touched by Cancer by addressing ·“Whole Person Healing.”· My personal mission is to have Cancer Coaching seen as a valid complementary treatment for Cancer healing.

Meet the Unexpected Journey Team

Signy Wilson – Breast Cancer Survivor.· Certified Coach, Program Developer and Facilitator

In 2001 I kicked cancer's butt. Yeah, cancer sure came knocking on the wrong door, I mean who does it think it is? Now, not only am I done with cancer in my body. I am done with cancer in the world. I am committed to educating people around early detection; to ways of using our bodies, minds and the environment to help us prevent and beat it; to helping people to work in communities to support people with cancer so that no one has to do cancer alone. It blew my mind to discover that cancer is still spoken of in hushed tones, like it is someone's fault they got it, like it is something to be ashamed of. Well it is time for things to change. This fight is not over.

So, what does this mean for you? What I learned from cancer influences who I am, how I coach and what perspectives I see the world from.

·Nancy Novack – Ovarian Cancer Survivor.· Licensed Psychologist. Founder of Nancy’s List.

I have lived in the world of cancer for 6 years.· I am a survivor of stage 4 ovarian cancer.· I know what it’s like to be kept up all night worrying about Cancer issues - financial issues, employment concerns, questions about sexuality and intimacy, the value of my friendships, the many many losses.· I defined and re-defined who I am a zillion times.· I explored many healing practices.· For me, a major piece of my healing is the power of relationships.· We desperately need to talk through the experience and desperately need to have someone generously listen, and make sense out of nonsense, lemonade from lemons.· Talking works.· It connects ourselves to ourselves, to a spiritual core, a guidance, and it connects us to our loved ones, the world.· My brilliant oncologist, who saved my life, said the best words to me, "I am with you."· That is the way I work and live my life.

Catherine Prevost – Breast Cancer Survivor.· Coach

My breast cancer diagnosis in 1996 was one of the most frightening and life-changing events in my life. In the course of a routine medical appointment, my life, as I knew it, ended. I am an active Cancer advocate, I feel that this purpose in my life feeds my soul, helps me reclaim hope, my center, and my energy.

Mai Vu – Master Coach and Program Developer and Trainer Extraordinaire

My Cancer journey was being the best friend of Shariann Tom.· I watched, witnessed and experienced, first-hand, what it’s like to have someone you love be travel this road.· Although, I did not have a Cancer diagnosis, I had my own Cancer journey along with Shariann.· Together we cried, yelled, and found our fountain of strength to make it through.·· We are forever changed.

I, now, use my skills and talents to create with Shariann programs that will serve the Cancer community and those Coaches who have also been touched by Cancer and want to give back and do more.· It is my pleasure to love and support these special individuals as they walk this journey for their life.
