How We Work

Anna felt lost and overwhelmed after being diagnosed with cancer and just wanted to get her footing and find her way.  Through her individual coaching with an AUJ Coach Survivor, Anna was able to really share how she was feeling knowing that she would be heard and understood.  She also received guidance and insight from her Coach Survivor, who shared experiences from her own personal trip and how she made it through.  Her Coach Survivor was able to help Anna find her solid footing and confidence so that she could make decisions that were true to what she wanted.

Michelle was feeling physically terrible through treatment and was full of fear of the unknown future.  She continued to wonder how she was going to make it through. In her participation in Group Coaching lead by a Coach Survivor, she was able to hear that others were in the same situation and how they were dealing with it.  Additionally, she found a place to discuss her feelings of death and dying without  worrying about its impact on the others.  The Coach Survivor was able to help her find her well of strength and establish her vision for the future. This helped her move forward towards the end of treatment and envision vibrant health.

After treatment, Roger was dealing with the uncertainty of life and found that it got in the way of transitioning back into his everyday life post-cancer.  Participating in an AUJ workshop, Roger found a group that was traveling down the same path and he could speak freely and candidly about his feelings and experiences.  He was also gaining and practicing new tools for personal growth and development which helped increase his confidence and understanding for the future.

John didn’t question his responsibility and commitment.  He knew he would take care of Mary for however long it took.  He was not prepared for his unexpected journey, which included feelings of exhaustion, anger, self pity, frustration and fear.   In AUJ’s Caregiver workshop, John was able to release his pent-up emotions and see that he was not alone in his feelings.  He was able to find his own strength and courage and even helped others with insights that he gained along the way.
